As an accomplished published author, his current research involves Judaism in the time of Jesus, the Dead Sea Scrolls, and other ancient documents related to understanding the historical Jesus. His new book, The Jesus Dynasty: The Hidden History of Jesus, His Royal Family, and the Birth of Christianity was published by Simon & Schuster in April, 2006. Tabor serves as chief editor of a new translation of the Bible, The Transparent English Bible, due to be published in 2008.
Dr. Tabor was one of the consultants/experts used by Simcha Jacobovici in the development and production of his film, The Lost Tomb of Jesus. Dr. Tabor recently wrote a very interesting blog posting entitled: Nonsense and the Academic Study of Religion.
The piece and his blog are worth visiting and reading. He brings into view fully for anyone who desires to be objective about religious matters an insight that should bridge one away from pure mysticism (which is incredibly harmful) towards a worldview that is fully rational and based upon logic, reason, science – reality.
